Monday's Music Lyrics -- Personal Jesus, by Depeche Mode

One of my favourtie types of competitions are High Jump only competitions. In these competitions, the stage is set with anywhere from 1,500 people to 8,000 people all in attendance to watch only high jump. In these meetings, each jumper will select their tune to jump with, often encouraging the crowd to get involved and clap to the beat of the music. Usually, I choose a song I believe the crowd will like, but one of my favourite and popular songs I like to jump to is "Personal Jesus" by Depeche Mode. While the beat is second to none, unbeknonwn to many, it is the lyrics that moves my spirit.... And here's why:

Personal Jesus lyrics, written by Martin L. Gore

Reach out and touch faith
Your own Personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who cares
Your own Personal Jesus
Someone to hear your prayers
Someone who's there

Feeling's unknown and you're all alone
Flesh and bone by the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer

Take second best
Put me to the test
Things on your chest
You need to confess
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith

Your own Personal Jesus
Feeling's unknown and you're all alone
Flesh and bone by the telephone
Lift up the receiver
I'll make you a believer
I will deliver
You know I'm a forgiver
Reach out and touch faith
Your own Personal Jesus
Reach out and touch faith
